First Day of Radiation

First day of radiation...kind of like the first day of school.  The unknown, scariness, big whirling machines, etc etc

Well first off, one of the machines were down so there was a 30 to 45 minute wait.  That wasn't a big issue but it was bloody cold in there.  I am definitely bringing a throw from home.  Way too cold!  Glad I was wearing shoes with socks on!  The Raynaud's on my hands were acting up because of the coldness but one of the ladies got me a blanket.  Very nice!

So finally I get in.  It's like a big eyeball machine that is aimed at the tattooed areas.  So there is a panel on one side and the 'eyeball machine' on the other.

 It was about a 15 minute process and the two went around me and stopped at the tattooed areas.  Thankfully, I don't need a mold to hold my body in place but the table was really HARD!


After all that, I had to talk to Gayle who needed to get me an earlier MRI.  Well, surprise surprise...I am going in tomorrow at 945am.  Still at HFH so I don't have to drive all over the place.  This should prove interesting!  Well, going to take a nap!

UPDATE

July 28th I have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist.  *sigh*

OK here's the poop on the Dermi today.  I saw Dr. Henderson and she is a resident at HF.  I went to see a dermi because of the previous post of my sores on my scalp.   She looked me over and was very concerned with the one I have on top of my scalp.  It's deep and she thought it could turn into a cancerous problem.  I did tell her that is where my previous dermi did the punch biopsy.  Dr. H brought in another dr for a second opinion and that doctor stated that if that wound wasn't closed up by stitches and I have lupus, the wound might not have closed up and healed properly.  So in essence, it made Dr. H feel better that it was the area of the punch biopsy.   So today, as I had a hunch, I was injected with cortisone.  That is something I never will forget but she was a lot better than my previous dermi.  She was gentle and gave me some breaks.  I had injections done to the side areas and my crater on top.  The cortisone ...

My head is going to explode!

Ah the life of a lupie!  So much fun! A few days ago, I left eye started to hurt and I thought it was just typical crappy weather problem.  That started Wednesday.  Long story short... it puffed out and I had a fever of 101. Not a pretty picture at all.  It was a lot worse than this.  Just hated  how I looked and felt, especially with the holidays coming around and the noise. Anywho, went to the family doctor today and she gave me antibiotics (augmentin) and boy those are HUGE pills!  Plus she recommended a saline flush so why not.  So now I'm home and just wanted to update my blog since I haven't in some time.  I have been writing in my journal of my own personal thoughts but I like to keep my medical stuff on here so I can refer back. Ok, I'm going to lay down and sleep this pain off.
